An Interview with Laura of Blorange Dice
Laura's fashion philosophy is simply this: wear what you like. Trends come and go, they are definitely fun to follow at times, but to her, it is most important to like your outfit(s) and dress for your mood. Choosing what to wear is a blast! It is a part of who you are, and Laura never wants to take the fun out of it. Come visit at Blorange Dice.
What do you do when you're not blogging? What is your job?
Laura: I am a full-time college student, currently in the process of getting an Undergraduate degree in English Literature. I also work on a research grant at the University that I attend, and I love my job. Beyond that, I sleep, read, and spend time with my friends!
How did you come up with your blog name?
Laura: When I was about two or three, I used to carry around two little wooden dice. One was blue, and one was orange, which equals... blorange! It was honestly the first thing that came to mind when I created my blog just because it is uniquely me. Holding the rounded dice is oddly comforting, even today.
Where are you from and what are your top three favorite places to shop in your city?
Laura: I grew up in Dallas, TX, but that's not where I go to school. Whenever I visit home, I always have to hit up an Urban Outfitters, my favorite local thrift store, and Buffalo Exchange.
Three things in your closet you cannot live without:
Laura: My favorite pair of thrifted loafers, my BDG super stretch skinny jeans (I'm on my second pair), and this vintage Ralph Lauren men's oxford shirt I found years ago from my favorite thrift store; it's an XL, it's covered in paisley, and it has the most perfect color palette.
What are you wearing right now?
Laura: I'm actually drinking coffee and still in pajamas! They are a pair Free People thermals that are incredibly comfortable and fit me perfectly. Plus, they're cool! Sometimes I even wear them out of the house... especially to early morning classes. (:
Favorite item of clothing in your closet:
Laura: This took some serious thought, but I have to go with this black flare Lux skirt with wooden buttons that I got on sale from Urban Outfitters a few years ago. It's a great basic that also has character, and I wear it in all seasons!
Great fashion steal:
Laura: I have a floral trench coat from Macy's online store that was originally priced around $500... I got it for $49.99, and this is the third winter I've worn it! It's warm and different.
For this Winter, you are coveting:
Laura: Boots, boots, boots. Shoes are the hardest thing for me to find, because I have what I like to call 'model feet' (size 11). It's pretty difficult for me to find shoes that both fit and are in my price range... but oh well! One day I'll be able to afford more, and for now I'm happy.
What 5 items do you always have in your purse?
Laura: Burt's Bees, my ipod touch, various pens, my planner, and a pair of sunglasses.
How are you able to stay fashionable without spending a lot of $$? What are your tips and where do you shop?
Laura: I do shop on an extremely minimal budget. I hardly ever buy anything full price and am a big believer in quality AND quantity, which is totally possible! I mainly stick to thrift stores and the sales at J.Crew, Gap, Urban Outfitters, and whatever else is around! Second-hand stores are also awesome.
